What is Roam Rank?
Roam rank aims to be the number one city guide for digital nomads, location independent professionals and long term travellers.
How is the Roam Rank score calculated?
We took our own experiences as full time digital nomads and developed a propriety algorithm to rank each location based on common aspects digital nomad and remote workers would find important; from the obvious living costs, wifi speed and weather. To aspects such as safety, tolerance, nightlife, timezones and quality of life.
Where is your data from?
We compile our data from various sources. Some of it is from our own personal experience and from a network of nomads and travellers on the ground around the world.
Other data is indexed and crunched from various third party partners. These include:
- Ookla
- Rightmove
- AirBnb
- Numbeo
- NOAA
- Open Street Maps
- Foursquare
- Govt websites and census data
- Weatherstack
- And many more...
Can I submit an article to Roam Rank?
We do accept article submissions but each contributor (and the article they submit) is strictly vetted. Each contributor must have a public social profile (Twitter, Instagram, YouTube etc) and clearly demonstrate that they have travelled to and have personal experience of the location or subject they are contributing to.
Each contributor who is approved will have a verified profile on Roam Rank including author bio and links to their blogs, YouTube and socials to verify their authority.
We don't accept AI generated, link bait riddled articles or paid placements / link exchanges of any kind.
I've found an error or have an issue with your data
Great! We're always looking to improve the accuracy of our data and obviously we can't be everywhere at once so we welcome feedback, corrections and updates. You can send them to [email protected]
Some of your locations are missing data
As above - we can't personally visit all places and often publically available verified data is of low quality and inaccurate. Building the Roam Rank dataset is an ongoing process; it's never finished. We hope over time our dataset will grow to become one of the most comprehensive and accurate on the web and we welcome contributions and corrections to help us achieve that aim.

How is this any different to Nomadlist?
Nomadlist was actually a big inspiration for Roam Rank. And although the sites do have some obvious similarities there are also some fundamental differences.
Nomadlist is a paid community and so much of their data is locked away and only accessible to paid members. Roam Rank is completely free and open.
Our data also focuses more on the costs around working remotely and specifically costs for nomads as well as the most common questions nomads ask when they are searching for a location.
In that sense we are probably somewhere in between Nomadlist, Numbeo (another inspiration behind the site) and Foursquare.
Where is Roam Rank based?
As you may have guessed we are fully remote. We are currently based in Bali, Indonesia.
How do i get my business or restaurant featured on Roam Rank?
We only really add recommendations for places that we (or members of our community) have personally visited and tried. If you wish to invite us along to see your restaurant or business then feel free to reach out and we can see if that is possible. However please be aware that venues and business will only be recommended if they genuinely offer a great experience for nomads. You can contact me at [email protected]
