Sat just north of the ever-bustling Canggu, Pererenan offers nomads the best of both worlds: a quiet, more affordable place to set up base and a nearby livelier scene when you're after a change.
Living here, you can enjoy that authentic Balinese vibe - waking up to views of rice paddies and black sand beaches, then spending your day in a cozy cafe or a small coworking space. The pace of life is a bit slower than Canggu, which means less of the hectic crowds and more room to breathe, work, and really soak in the local culture. That being said, the area is growing quickly as more digital nomads and influencers discover its appeal. And while public transport might be a bit limited (scooters and ride-hailing apps are your go-to), the area's charm and affordability more than make up for it.
If you ever need a faster pace, Canggu is just minutes away, offering cool restaurants, epic parties and an active expat community. All in all, Pererenan offers a chilled, community-focused feel with the option to tap into a more lively scene whenever you fancy it.

Where to stay
1. Pererenan Beach
Staying near the beach in Pererenan offers a cool vibe with good access to the ocean. It's perfect for those who enjoy surfing or relaxing by the sea during breaks. The area around the beach is less crowded than nearby Canggu's main spots but still has plenty of cafes, bars and thngs to do.
2. Pantai Pererenan
Jalan Pantai Pererenan is the main road that runs through the center of Pererenan and is the heart of the area, offering convenience and some local charm. It has lots of cafes, restaurants, and co-working spaces (and this list is growing by the day).
3. East Pererenan
East Pererenan is known for its lush greenery, rice paddies and rural feel. It's a great choice if you want to be surrounded by nature while still having quick access to modern amenities and the beach. As it's further inland away from the beach accomodation prices also tend to be cheaper.

Transport
Scooter or Motorbike
Just like neighbouring Canggu there's no public transport available in Pererenan so most people hire a scooter or motorbike. You can rent a bike from places all over town and it will likely cost around 850,000 IDR per month for a small scooter like a Honda Scoopy or north of 1.8m IDR per month for a larger bike. The traffic and roads in Pererenan are a lot quieter than nearby Canggu but they can still throw up blind, sharp bends and pot holes.
Gojek
If you can't ride a bike then Gojek is your best option. It's a ride hailing app much like Uber that allows you to easily and cheaply book a car (or bike) to get you from A to B. It's extremely affordable and displays the price upfront so there's no need for spare change (if you pay in app) or haggling with your driver. It really is a must have while in Bali (or anywhere in Indonesia for that matter).
Grab
Grab is another must have app very similar to Gojek. It also allows you to order rides, food and other things but there are often different drivers, availability, food and deals available compared to Gojek so it's definitely worth downloading both apps. Grab is available in places like Thailand too so if you plan on heading there you will definitely want to download Grab also.
